Sierra Cunningham takes pride in educating people of diverse socioeconomic backgrounds on all preventative healthy behaviors. She is passionate about advocating for the well-being and improved quality of life for all members of the community. Her greatest passion is bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. Currently in her role as The SC Department of Mental Health, Patient Affairs Coordinator, she helps patients strengthen their perceptions of themselves and the relationships around them. In the future Sierra aspires to work within Veteran Affairs , to provide rehabilitation services, as the proud granddaughter of a World War II veteran

Her education includes two degrees from illustrious Historical Black Universities. She obtained her Bachelors of Science degree from Johnson C. Smith University, where she majored in Community Health and minored in Health Communication. She furthered her education at the distinguished South Carolina State University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Sierra has received several field related certifications such as QPR Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention ,Office of Minority Health Resource Center Preconception Health Peer Educator ,Certified Peer Support Specialist ,and Mental Health First Aid.

Sierra is a servant of her community and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. As an African American woman it is her personal mission to ensure that the stigma associated with mental Illness and disabilities  in her community is eliminated .
